Roger Waters' 2010-2013 tour The Wall Live doesn't hit movie theaters until September 29th, but fans can get a preview of the film in this exclusive trailer showcasing Waters' breathtaking show.

"Roger Waters The Wall is a film that unfolds on many levels: an immersive concert experience of the seminal 1979 Pink Floyd album, a road movie of Waters' reckoning with the death of his father in Italy in 1944, and a stirring film that highlights the human cost of armed conflict," reads a press release.

Tickets are available now for the event, which will also feature an interview with Waters and Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason where the former bandmates will "reunite over the breaking of bread and the answering of questions sent in by fans." Over 2,000 movie theaters around the world will screen the film.

“I hope these worldwide screenings will be a good opportunity to remember, not just our fallen loved ones, but all the other guys' fallen loved ones," Waters said in a statement. "Ashes and diamonds, foe and friend, we were all equal in the end."

Over 4 million fans saw The Wall Live during its three-year run. The massive show was staged 219 times and grossed $458.6 million, a record for a solo act. By comparison, Pink Floyd's original Wall tour played to a mere four cities worldwide in 1980/81.

Waters has kept a relatively low-profile since The Wall Live tour ended in September 2013, though later that year he told Rolling Stone about his upcoming solo record. "It's songs and theater as well," he said. "I don't want to give too much away, but it's couched as a radio play. It has characters who speak to each other, and it's a quest. It's about an old man and a young child trying to figure out why they are killing the children."

At the time, he didn't know if he was going to support the work with another tour. "I'm suffering a little bit of withdrawal after ending the Wall tour," he said. "It's sort of a relief to not have to go out and do that every night, but they're such a great team. There were 180 of us together everyday. That piece was very moving every night."

Fans will get a chance to see Waters perform live on July 24th when he plays the Newport Folk Festival, and again on October 16th when he headlines the Music Heals benefit concert along with Billy Corgan, Sheryl Crow and Tom Morello.

David Gilmour Covers The Beatles For MOJO

by Mojo Staff

“I wish I had been in The Beatles,” the Pink Floyd man tells MOJO, as we give away his cover of Here, There And Everywhere exclusively on the free CD available with our new issue – on sale this Tuesday (August 25).

SOME TWO YEARS ago, David Gilmour very kindly sent MOJO a cover version of The Beatles’ Here, There And Everywhere.

We enjoyed his reworking of the Fab Four so much that we wanted to share it and after a spot of cajoling he’s finally agreed to let us include it on free CD that comes with the new edition of MOJO (October 15 / #263), on sale from Tuesday, August 25.

“I really wish I had been in The Beatles,” Gilmour tells MOJO of the genesis behind his cover. “[They] taught me how to play guitar, I learnt everything. The bass parts, the lead, the rhythm, everything. They were fantastic.”

That love is manifested on the wonderful harmony-filled cover of the 1966 Revolver original recorded with his son Joe. Previously unreleased anywhere, it forms the cornerstone of our collection of music designed to celebrate the Pink Floyd leader’s life, work and influence, David Gilmour & Friends.

A number of Gilmour’s closest collaborators appear on our bespoke compilation while the guitarist is featured on six of the tracks himself, including songs from Phil Manzanera, Robert Wyatt and The Pretty Things.

The CD is accompanied by a major new interview with Gilmour, which saw MOJO’s Tom Doyle visit him at his home, a very appropriate venue considering his forthcoming album – his first solo effort in nine years – sees him collaborate with Polly Samson, his wife. Get MOJO – on sale in the UK from Tuesday (August 25) – for the full interview and exclusive CD.

David Gilmour Confirms Pink Floyd is Over!

David Gilmour has confirmed that Pink Floyd are over. The 69-year-old guitarist said it would be "fakery" to reform with his two surviving bandmates, Roger Waters and Nick Mason, explaining that the iconic rock band had "run its course."

"I'm done with it. I've had 48 years in Pink Floyd - quite a few of those years at the beginning, with Roger," Gilmour told Classic Rock Magazine.

"And those years in what is now considered to be our heyday were 95 per cent musically fulfilling and joyous and full of fun and laughter. And I certainly don't want to let the other five per cent colour my view of what was a long and fantastic time together."

"But it has run its course, we are done - and it would be fakery to go back and do it again."

David Gilmour joined Pink Floyd in 1967, two years after the band's formation in 1965 by then students Syd Barrett, Nick Mason, Roger Waters, and Richard Wright. Syd Barrett left the group in 1968 and passed away in 2006. Rick Wright died in 2008.

To do it without Rick would just be wrong," Gilmour explained. "I absolutely don't want to go back. I don't want to go and play stadiums ... under the [Pink Floyd] banner. I'm free to do exactly what I want to do and how I want to do it."

"Obviously I accept there are people who want to go and see and hear this legend that was Pink Floyd, but I'm afraid that's not my responsibility."

"It's just a pop group. I don't need it. I don't need to go there. I'm not being coy or difficult - I just think that at my age I should do whatever I really want to do in life."

Gilmour recently revealed details of his new solo album 'Rattle That Lock', which will be released on September 18 and is the follow-up to 2006's 'On An Island'. Watch the animated video for the album's title track, 'Rattle That Lock'

He plays three consecutive nights at London's Royal Albert Hall on September 23, 24 and 25 and will play his first North American live dates for 10 years in March and April 2016.

Gilmour has not toured since 2006, although he did recently join Bombay Bicycle onstage during their gig at London's Earls Court Arena in December, where he played lap steel guitar on the London's band's own song 'Rinse Me Down', as well as an acoustic version of Pink Floyd's 'Wish You Were Here' from the 1975 album of the same name.

David Gilmour Premieres New Single: "Rattle That Lock"

On September 18th, David Gilmour will release "Rattle That Lock," his first solo album in a decade. In anticipation, the Pink Floyd singer-guitarist has unveiled the album’s title track, which also serves as the lead single.

Spanning nine tracks, "Rattle That Lock" was recorded by Gilmour in collaboration with Roxy Music’s Phil Manzanera, Jools Holland, and Gilmour’s wife, Polly Sampson, who assisted in writing the lyrics. Recording took place mostly at Medina Studio, which is Gilmour’s Brighton, UK studio as well as on his Astoria houseboat studio.

The title track "Rattle That Lock" was inspired by and makes use of the SNCF (French National Railway company) jingle, composed by Michaël Boumendil. Gilmour heard and recorded the jingle on his iPhone at Aix-en-Provence station whilst travelling to visit friends. The lyrics for the track were written by Gilmour's wife and long time collaborator Polly Samson, and are based around Book II of John Milton's Paradise Lost. The musicians Mica Paris and Louise Marshall, together with The Liberty Choir perform on the track.

"Rattle That Lock" will be Gilmour's fourth solo album and his first since 2006's "On An Island." "On An Ilsand" is so far Gilmour's highest US charting album reaching #6 on the US Billboard album chart. The album was a huge success around the world having reached #1 in the UK and Norway as well as making it into the Top 3 in several other countries around the world.
